Rudraksha, the ‘tears of Shiva’, are the dried seeds from the fruit of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree, an evergreen tree that grows from the plains of the Ganges to the foothills of the Himalayas.

Rudraksha seeds are covered with a blue husk and when ripe are used in Ayurveda for the treatment of various diseases. The energy of rudraksha seeds is very high. In Ayurveda, the benefits of rudraksha are considered to come from its electromagnetic properties. It improves mental activity and provides calmness. It enables adaptation to new surroundings; in ancient times it was used by sadhus and sanyasis to settle in new places. Rudraksha seed is said to help to sleep or eat in unfamiliar places, so it is useful for those who are constantly travelling. It reduces stress, relaxes, stabilises and gives security.

This seed has interesting electromagnetic, paramagnetic, diamagnetic and dynamic polarity properties when in contact with the skin, which give it surprising benefits.
